Leonard Cohen’s memorial ‘Traveling Light’ video is packed with unseen archival footage

Leonard Cohen’s You Want It Darker collaborator Sammy Slabbinck has unveiled a new lyric video for the track ‘Traveling Light’.

The video plays host to a great deal of vintage and previously unseen archival footage of the iconic late Leonard Cohen with the ‘Traveling Light’ lyrics appearing on top. Watch the video below.

The newly shared video poses as a memorial for the quintessential musician and poet and does a fantastic job of it too. The video was created by Sammy Slabbinck under the guidance of Adam Cohen, Leonard Cohen’s son, according to a Facebook post.

The full Facebook post from Sammy Slabbinck Collage & Illustrations reads:

With the excellent guidance of Adam Cohen I had the honor of making this video, a combination of archival & previously unseen footage, for one of Leonard Cohen’s last masterpieces:
” Traveling Light. “
As a lifelong fan myself I created a memorial video to commemorate the man “ who was born with the gift of a golden voice”.
RIP LC

The visuals for ‘Traveling Light’ open with Cohen sitting on a balcony smoking a cigarette describing how he still feels strong like he used to in his younger years despite being much weaker. This introduction beautifully reflects the nature of the song in question – ‘Traveling Light’.

I wake up in my bed and I feel like, ‘That’s how I used to feel,'” he says. “Not exactly but, you know. And then I swing my legs off the bed and I try to stand up!
