Olive Featherstone drops enchanting new single ‘Come Clean’

Kicking off 2022, Olive Featherstone has offered up her 3rd release from her highly anticipated debut album. ‘Come Clean’ effortlessly switches between somber tones and sophisticated guitar work which leads into a grunge-soaked climax.

Residing in Bristol, Olive has penned a mesmeric album titled ‘I Was Wondering, Lost’ which is penciled for Spring 2022 release. The body of work is Olive’s vessel of dealing with issues surrounding drug abuse and depersonalisation, topics which were difficult to explore within bands of previous years. As a solo artist, the moniker of Olive Featherstone provides a safe space to discuss narratives closer to home. ‘I Was Wondering, Lost’ was recorded and produced alongside Calum Wotherspoon, with Calum and Olive both ‘learning on the job’. Despite going into the studio environment as novices, the end result is something altogether different. Packed with visceral storytelling and immersive production, ‘I Was Wondering, Lost’ is a triumphant debut.

Talking about the new track, Olive Featherstone shares:

‘Come Clean’ is the first track on the album. For me, it felt like a great start to set the mood for the rest of the album. The track centers around the protagonist admitting their infatuation with someone and coming clean with their feelings, only to be rejected and left with their unrequited emotions. This sheer feeling of vulnerability, embarrassment, let-down was so raw as a young, hopeless romantic. I wanted to write a song that admitted this defeat and make it feel anthemic so I could scream the chorus’.”

Having performed at Dot-To-Dot Bristol, Rough Trade Bristol, and via Scruff Of The Neck’s flagship twitch show, Olive’s live show is something to behold. You can find Olive next back at Rough Trade Bristol performing with Mantaraybryn and Tom Braithwaite – find tickets here.
