Radio DJ shot and killed during Facebook Live broadcast

A radio presenter was shot dead during a Facebook Live stream in the Dominican Republic.

On Thursday morning gunmen entered the radio station Milenio Caliente and killed Luis Manuel Medina who was at the time presenting the news. They also killed producer and director Leo Martínez. Reports from the Guardian also claim receptionist Dayaba Garcia was injured in the attack and was rushed to the hospital where she received emergency surgery.

In the video, you can see Medina read the news as gunshots are fired in the background. A woman shouts “Shots! Shots! Shots!” before the live feed stops. You can see his eyes widen as he realises what’s happening.

The radio station is located in a shopping centre in San Pedro de Macroís. Police have detained three men but currently, no one has been charged. It is unclear of the motive behind the attacks. There have been many tributes on the radio presenter and the producer on Facebook after the horrific attacks. Medina was married and is believed to have one daughter.
