Nigerian-born soul songstress Sadé Awele is fresh from a successful European tour, gearing up an upcoming Canadian leg to celebrate her brand new EP ‘Intuition’. Going into the project, the artist is making waves internationally for a unique R&B sound that is fuelled by her cultural heritage of Afro-soul.
Across the project, the artist shows just what makes her such a sought-after rising star. Balancing rich, warm atmospheres, with infectious and bouncy percussion, it’s clear each track is a product of authenticity. Alongside the vast percussive arrangements, rhythmic electric guitars, the natural glow of a piano and the occasional dynamic brass part all provide the foundation for controlled and elegant vocal performances. Sadé adds, “Intuition was written with the intention of creating a diasporic sound, influenced by my Nigerian upbringing combined with a mix of cultures and genres that have shaped my identity. Intuition tells a story of my journey to finding peace, finding myself, finding joy, feeling pain, and embracing the moments in-between.”
