Emerging in 2023 with a sound that encapsulated vulnerability and toxic love, Zito released ‘Slay’, following the dark neo-soul with the deep emotional writing of ‘Please Don’t Leave Me’.
To open 2024 comes the anticipated debut EP from Zito, ‘Wanna See Red’. The six-track project brings forth the full extent of Zito’s talent, weaving in new avenues to her signature sound, whilst maintaining the sultry vocal performances that make the artist so enticing.
Grooving opener ‘Away’ showcases bouncy drums and flying horn lines, ‘Gutterlove’ takes on a choppy atmosphere that reframes Zito’s soulful vocal cries. The title track ‘Wanna See Red’ is funky and energising, filling the atmosphere with a joyousness that contrasts with the raw attraction detailed in the vocals. The project wraps up with ‘Witchcraft’ a downtempo anthem that takes on a softer, more elegant presence, capturing a hurt that will impact any listener, leaving them with a lasting impression of Zito’s phenomenal first outing.
Zito shares, “I am so ecstatic that we finally get to share this project with the world. These songs were all experiments in production, where I wanted to capture atmosphere and imagery in the sound and create a sonic landscape unique to each one. Hopefully listeners are transported the way I was working on them.
