2019 Oscars: Watch Queen and Adam Lambert’s rousing opening performance

Following Kevin Hart resigning from his role hosting the 2019 Oscars, the decision was made to make the event a hostless affair this year.

But Queen and replacement frontman Adam Lambert’s opening performance at the 91st Academy Awards Ceremony spoke louder than even the most charismatic host could.

The group played a rousing medley of Queen hits to kick off the ceremony, starting with ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’ – check it out below.

It was an apt choice for the opening act, what with Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic which tells the story of the late Queen frontman, Freddie Mercury, gaining huge commercial success and award nominations throughout 2018 and 2019.

And the film lived up to its expectations, sweeping the floor with four Oscars: Film Editing, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, while Rami Malek took home Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance as the late frontman.
