September (and October) will be very busy for Julyo, an Italian music producer, and guitar/bass player, as he has a series of engagements lined up. On the first Sunday of September, Julyo will perform with the Irish blues/rock band “Bone Machine Plays the Music of Tom Waits” at the Electric Picnic Festival (Spike Island stage). He will be presenting a one-and-a-half-hour show at this legendary Irish music festival. Bone Machine is the project of Irish singer/songwriter Jack Healy.

The Electric Picnic Festival in Ireland is a captivating tapestry of music, culture, and creativity. Nestled within lush landscapes, this annual event transforms Stradbally Estate into a vibrant hub where music genres blend harmoniously, from rock to electronic beats. But it’s more than just music; it’s an immersive experience. Art installations surprise every corner, while diverse workshops ignite learning and laughter. Culinary delights tantalize taste buds and a sense of community blossoms among attendees. Electric Picnic is a celebration where the ordinary dissolves, giving way to a realm where art, nature, and the joy of togetherness reign supreme. This year’s lineup of Electric Picnic Festival includes Billie Eilish, Niall Horan, Fred Again, The Killers, and more.

In August, Julyo posted a behind-the-scenes video featuring Bone Machine backstage at the Grand Social. The band was preparing for their first gig in Dublin since 2018. The current band lineup includes Recording Academy voting member, film scoring composer Dario Rodighiero, and Des Harrington on drums (who joined for the Grand Social gig).

The Electric Picnic performance will be at the Spike Island stage situated in the Freetown area of the festival. Freetown emerges as a unique city situated beyond Salty Dog and Trenchtown, adorned with a diverse tapestry of existence. It hosts an eclectic fusion of elements, ranging from German nihilistic influences to Brazilian residences, a Cajun bayou, and a shanty town inhabited by misfits. A cabaret hall and the concealed pathways reminiscent of a Mexican pueblo add to its intriguing character. A pulsating array of red lights guides you to Providencia, a retro-futuristic village perched on the world’s edge. Within this sanctuary of the unusual, peculiar occurrences take center stage. The renowned nightly Blok Party epitomizes an enigmatic, vibrant celebration of oddity, absurdity, and analog mystique, persisting until the break of dawn.

On the 22nd of September, Julyo will perform a solo show at the Italian Institute of Culture in Dublin. Described as “A journey across several Italian regions through the notes of some traditional Italian folk melodies skillfully played by Julyo and his mandolin”, the 45 minutes solo set will have Julyo perform a selection of music from his previously released folk albums “Mandolino Italiano” and “Mandolinata”.
