Following the top 5 club success of singles ‘Dance Like This’ and ‘Gypsy Girl’, Havana (aka Carol Antony) returns this year with a new album and a brand new sound.
Lead single ‘Just Like Magic’ is a bold introduction to this new sound, showcasing a more urban sensibility to her songs bringing in noted Young Money US rapper and MC Tyga for extra flavour who has already had 2 top 10 albums in the US. Other collaborations on the album include tracks with the likes of Busta Rhymes and Jadakiss, who also boast chart topping albums in the US.
The album was mixed by Sensible studio’s Jon Moon (Example, Alexandra Burke) who has commented that she has a touch of the Donna Summer about her. With chart topping remixers Q Club, Andi Durrant and Jodie Harsh jumping on the track, this is sure to be a song you will be hearing on the radio and in the clubs in the UK and Ibiza this summer.
Over the course of her career, Havana’s bombshell combination of raven haired beauty and stunning pop vocals have seen her perform alongside stars such as Elton John, Westlife and N-Sync. At one point, she was the cause of a contract race between EMI, Universal Ireland and Sony – Universal eventually winning out.
This new single and upcoming album are all the more impressive and important as they mark her return after a career-threatening horse riding accident kept her out of action for a lengthy period. Her return to the limelight came on Irish TV reality show ‘Celebrity Salon’, which saw Havana become once again one of the most sought after personalities in her home country.
Now though, she is looking beyond those borders once more – with a combination of music, TV and film lined up for this year, Carol Anthony’s is a face you’re sure to become familiar with in 2013.
