King Krule says he turned down working with Kanye West

In an interview with The New York Times, King Krule, real name Archy Marshall, discussed turning down a number of big name collaborations, including Kanye West.

Speaking to the New York publication, Marshall said: “I remember even getting hit up by Kanye to go to the studio, anyone else in my shoes would’ve done it…I couldn’t be bothered.

It wasn’t out of a sense of superiority, [Marshall] stressed, but because of the pressure to create on call.New York Times‘ Joe Coscarelli added.

Dean Bein, the founder of True Panther Sounds, the label that Marshall is signed to, said in an email that he turned down “some very notable collaborations because he couldn’t see how the artists’ sounds would work with his.

Recently in an interview with Pitchfork, Marshall also revealed that he attempted to write songs for Frank Ocean and spent time working with Earl Sweatshirt. Read more about that here.
