10-year-old with sight problems gets invited to play at the Country Music Awards

When Jaiden Huffman, from North Carolina, was only six months old her parents noticed something wasn’t right with her vision. She was taken to the doctor who diagnosed her with ocular albinism. This is a condition which reduces the pigmentation in the iris which is needed for sight. The doctors believed she would have to attend a special school as a child and would not be able to take part in normal activities.

However, this didn’t stop Jaiden who had dreams of becoming a country singer. She started posting cover videos to Facebook and YouTube which were eventually seen by big names in the country music scene.

At the age of ten she was asked to perform at the Country Music Awards which took place in Nashville. This was an amazing opportunity for the young girl as the CMA Awards has hosted some of the biggest names in country, including Jaiden’s inspiration Carrie Underwood.

She continued to record covers and got over three million views for her cover of Maddie and Tae’s ‘Fly’. Jaiden has performed the national anthem for NASCAR and was nominated for Junior Artist of the Year at the Josie Music Awards.

The talented singer continues to share her music on YouTube and Facebook. We hope that the next time Jaiden attends the CMA Awards it will be to accept an award!
