Rising band Bones, featuring ACM graduate Carmen Vandenberg (who graduated from The Academy Of Contemporary Music in 2012 with a Degree in Music Performance specialising in Guitar), has recently had the opportunity to support Skunk Anansie on a sold out European tour.
Celebrating their 22nd birthday as a band this year, Skunk Anansie is currently promoting its new album Anarchytecture. Having appeared on major TV shows throughout Europe and storming through the charts across the Continent, the band have performed at top venues in all the major cities on this knock out tour.
Fierce supporters of fresh talent in the music industry, the band were extremely excited to have up and comers Bones alongside them.
“Bones approached Skunk Anansie independently to become the support for the tour . I knew of Carmen as an ACM graduate and Bones, the band she was in. Members of our crew are also ACM alumni. The tour has been amazing, completely sold out, and both bands have played fantastically. We are really having fun together. I am proud to give this opportunity to a fellow ACM family member.”

“The opportunity initially came up through our mutual agents; 13 Artists. They put us forward to the members of Skunk Anansie. Allegedly there was a vote and we got the gig! We were beyond overwhelmed by the news and have literally had the most fantastic time on the road! If I was to describe it in three words it would be: truly INSPIRATIONAL, extreme FUN, and Rock n Roll MAYHEM. Skunk Anansie are an incredibly talented band with an exceptionally energetic live show. Their sound and performances were explosive like when a “tornado meets a volcano “. We learnt so much from watching them perform and seeing their dedication to each and every show, which in my opinion matches our work ethic. My advice to other students looking to get into the industry is simple: Keep on practicing, Keep on writing, Be in bands and Never give up, but have FUN whilst doing it. Working for things is the only way to achieve them.”
