Allan Rose’s new single – ‘Alien’ out now

Having been well received with last single ‘Be Mine’, Allan Rose has moved into slightly new territory with new track ‘Alien’.

The move though, far from being ill advised after previous success, is a good one, demonstrating a versatile approach to writing from the pop singer-songwriter.

‘Alien’ is less of a straightforward pop hit than its predecessors, but no less radio-friendly or accessible. What it does is draw on different influences from his previous work. Fans of KT Tunstall might recognise the stompy, hand clap stylings of the verses – a nod to the popularity of folk in the present climate as well as a sure-fire way to open the track at pace. The choruses, however, effectively move into a more electro, layered pop sound with plenty going on.

It all makes for a pleasantly dynamic track that doesn’t always go the way you expect. Nice work from Rose.

‘Alien’ is available from download stores now, and you can hear it here.
