Benga, Chapter II – Perfect Album For The XXI and XXII Century Masses

I thought that the new Benga’s album would be filled with lengthy instrumental dubstep or drum ‘n’ bass compositions, certainly not likely to have 3 or 4 minute tracks. In fact I was very surprised! Chapter II is a good well-produced and well sliced album, with a few catchy killers…

The whole album has nice variation, as some of the songs are more electronic and more alternative. You can find here dubstep, pop, electronica, hip-hop, trip-hop, house… The fact that the album blends genres makes its very fresh.

Some of the tracks are very catchy, almost pop tunes which really blew my mind. I’m talking about dubstep-esque “Smile”, stunning house electro track “Choose 1” and the best one, supermegacrazyamazing “Forefather”! “Forefather” is the type of song many artists can only dream of creating. It is loaded with pop elements, loads of dubstep and also has rap involved (Kano turns the raw pop-dubstep track into a ghetto blaster). Listening to “Forefather” or “Choose 1”, you have a feeling that Benga and his production is one level higher than Tinie Tempah.

Like I said before, there are many tracks on this album that I fell in love with. The rest of them are more for fans of deeper stuff, not necessarily pop and mainstream. It still feels like Benga has experimented with the sound, trying to select as many new beat genres as possible and then smash it into one very tasty roll. It’s perfect music for the XXI and XXII century masses. Soundtrack to urban world.
