Finally YouTube has added a quick skip feature to rewind and fast forward in jumps

YouTube have just unveiled a new update to its mobile app that will allow users to skip forward or backwards easily in 10-second jumps.

By simply tapping the right or left edge of the screen the new update is perfect for quick replays of a videos best bit, skip past a boring part, or if you missed something easily watch again. This is sure to ease the painstakingly fiddly bottom bar slider, which can sometimes be a bit of a chore to use.

Amongst the 10-second jumps back and forth the update also has the ability to skip up to 20 and 30 seconds at a time by a triple or quadruple tap. Although useful, it has been reported that this can be a bit tricky to get right each time.

Unbeknown to many desktop YouTube users, a 5-second skip feature actually already exists and is accessible by hitting the left or right arrow whilst the video is playing.

The new YouTube feature is available now on both iOS and Android.
