Nuborg opens 2015 with debut album and first UK gig

2014 was a big year for NuBorg, my favourite new ambient pop artist from Norway. Over the course of the year, NuBorg released a series of nine singles, month by month, each of which had something to recommend it. A couple of them were featured in these very pages, but even those not mentioned here were very impressive pieces of work.

And now, with 2015 getting its feet firmly under the table, Nuborg is coming back again – this time with a debut album. The LP collects together all the excellent singles from last year, making for a trippy, spaced out experience when enjoyed back to back. As you can hear from the title track above, NuBorg has a taste for slightly offbeat electronic vibes, which place pop music tropes and crescendos alongside throbbing electro sounds  that would sound out of place in less assured hands.

Fortunately in this case, the combination works superbly, and the streak continues throughout the full album, which is out now.

The vibes are, in fact, so electronic based that it makes the prospect of a live show very intriguing. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long for NuBorg’s debut UK gig in London this Thursday. Visit https://www.facebook.com/nuborgmusic for all the details.
