Typified by the gentle but persuasive vocal turn on the ‘Drifting’ track above, Lonna Marie is a United States based songwriter who blends the styles of several top female artists to drive her own way. She has the pop-country style of Taylor Swift, the wistful subtlety of Sara Bareilles and the take no prisoners lyrical attitude of Alanis Morrisette. It’s an impressive combination, and it makes her debut EP ‘The Worst Has Just Begun’ well worth a listen.
Based in California, the sun kissed nature of the songs shine through thanks to the professional, clean production which gives every layer its due. But standing out on top of it all is the note perfect vocal – delicate and powerful in equal measure. This is very enjoyable work.
