Doherty was walking his two dogs when one of the pooches caught a hedgehog in his mouth.
As the musician tried to remove the spikey animal, one of its spines punctured his hand – a wound that has since become infected and landed the rocker in hospital.
The former Libertines frontman was forced to cancel his BBC 5 Live appearance with Nihal Arthanayake, and has praised the NHS in a social media post for their treatment: “Thank you to the wonderful men and women who work within the NHS . What absolute angels and a million times they deserve our respect and thanks.”
Zeus and Narco had the cute wee verminous Shnuffle shuffle Pig of the the Hedge in their gobs and I wrapped my hand in a tshirt and freed the wee bugger and got a tiny cut.. That was Wednesday night/Thursday morning..
