It’s Friday! We’ve put together our top picks of this week’s new releases, ready and waiting to soundtrack your weekend.
Keeva – ‘The Kindest Thing’
Irish-Jordanian Keeva released two tracks ahead of her debut EP, Four Sad Songs and A Ballad.
Keeva’s vocals are drenched in remorse in ‘The Kindest Thing’, a song she penned whilst lying on her bathroom floor after finding out her boyfriend had cheated on her.
The new single is accompanied by B-side ‘Pieces’.
Four Sad Songs and a Ballad comes out October 26th.
MAY – ‘Northern Lights’
Australian via New York MAY gave a taste of what’s to come on her forthcoming EP with single ‘Northern Lights’, released via CLASH.
‘Northern Lights’ is a track heavy with grief – an emotive track about her late father delivered superbly by MAY’s gripping and incomparable vocal strength.
MAY’s debut EP drops later this year via Best Laid Plans.
Goldblume – ‘We All Know Why And Who’
Alt-punk trio Goldblume release their second single from their upcoming album, HUSK.
‘We All Know Why And Who’ is a song about the ghosts of old friends and the cynicism it creates around trusting new people.
HUSK drops November 9th, accompanied by a tour of the U.K from the 8th-24th of the same month.
King Nun – ‘Greasy Hotel’
Ahead of their EP release and UK tour next month, King Nun have released a powerful track inspired by a girl who was groped at one of their gigs.
Frontman Theo Polyzoides elaborated on the meaning behind ‘Greasy Hotel’: “We wanted the lyrics in the chorus to stand out and I felt it was important for the audience to hear ‘Take your hands off of her’ mid-set. The song serves as a reminder of our stance on this, as well as helping to vent on what I feel is a really important issue.”
King Nun’s EP I Have Love drops next month. They kick off a tour of the U.K from November 13th to the 22nd.
Mae Muller – ‘Pull Up’
North London’s Mae Muller has dropped her break-up anthem, ‘Pull Up’.
Muller has a knack for writing pop songs about bad love, and ‘Pull Up’ is no exception – intimately recorded vocals compare the bitter pain of a relationship moving from sweet to sour. Check out her new music video below:
