Tell us about your latest project “He Ain’t Worth The Makeup.” I recently released my single ‘He Ain’t Worth The Makeup’.  It’s a fierce girl anthem about a woman who realizes the person she’s been spending all her time getting dolled-up for just isn’t worth her time.  It was inspired by a friend of mine who got stood up on a first date, after doing her hair and makeup and looking fabulous.  She had met the guy on a dating app, and they set a date, that he just never showed up for! I got to talking to a bunch of my girlfriends, and they all had similar stories.  And that was the inspiration behind this song! It’s already racked up over 40,000 streams and growing every day!

What first got you into music? Music and singing has been in my veins since I was born.  As soon as I could walk and talk, I was singing.  I would put on concerts for everyone who came to the house and had a microphone with foot petals that made the sound of a crowd cheering.  That was how it all got started!

When I was 8, that was when I realized that I was actually a good singer, and started performing in school plays and talent shows. And it was around that same age when I started writing songs as well.

Who inspired you to make music? My mom kept the music from some of the greatest musical divas in the house, and I grew up listening to them.  Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and Mariah Carey were some of my favorites.  From a young age, I remember dancing around the house with my siblings to all of their cassette tapes.  I knew from then on, that I was born to be a singer, and I’ve never wanted anything more than my dream of doing music full time forever!

How would you describe the music that you typically create? It’s definitely country-pop with some rock influences mixed in.  I’ve tried to establish a unique sound that isn’t something you hear a million girls on the radio already sounding like.  This chapter of my life has very much been about embracing who I really am, and that definitely comes forth in the sound of my music.  My songwriting is deep and heartfelt.  And the vocals are powerful.  Recently, a lot of people have been comparing my voice and music to Carrie Underwood, which I take as a HUGE compliment.  I’ll take that any day!

What is your creative process like? I’ve learned to stop whatever I’m doing when inspiration strikes, to write down or voice record my ideas. They always seem to come at the most inconvenient times, but I’m so thankful that I’m such a creative person and ideas always flow to me.  I get obsessed with song ideas when they come to me, and I’m always really excited to start working on them.  I take them as far as I can on my own, and if I’m feeling like the project needs another set of ears, I take it to one of my co-writing sessions.  There are so many insanely talented songwriters and musicians in Nashville, and I love writing with other people.  I’ve learned so much, and grown so much as a writer, by collaborating with others.

I’m currently working on writing my first album! So I’m in the process of narrowing all the songs I’ve been writing down into my favorites, to choose what will make the album.  And my producer and I are starting to finalize what sound we’re aiming to go for with those chosen songs!

Who would you most like to collaborate with? There are so many people on this list but if I had to narrow it down, I would absolutely love to collaborate with Maren Morris, Carrie Underwood, Jimmie Allen, and Thomas Rhett.
