ZEHV is a talented DJ and producer that’s slowly but surely adding his name to the list of artists to follow up close. He has played at emblematic venues like Halcyon, The Midway, The Great Northern, Avant Gardner and Bogart House. His music has received the support from influential artists like Guy J, Fehrplay, and Cristoph, only perpetuating his legacy and reputation as a skillful and creative production powerhouse. ZEHV sat down with us to answer a round of quickfire questions.
Who’s your biggest musical influence?
I honestly have a lot, so it’s hard to choose just one! At the moment I’d say Guy J and Fehrplay.
Digital or analog?
I like a combination of both actually! I know that might be a cop out answer, but I think you can get pretty close to an analog sound with digital tools these days anyway. I love the combination of warmth analog brings with the uniqueness of some digital sounds.
Favorite music festival?
Movement in Detroit
Favorite album of all time?
Another impossible one! The Beatles: Abbey Road, Metallica S&M, Eric Prydz Presents Pryda…so many more
Best advice you’ve received?
Don’t fall into a habit of day dreaming. Every time you choose to day dream you’re probably making the chance of it becoming a reality even less. It’s ok to day dream a little bit, but find the first steps towards achieving your goal and start!
Dream collaboration?
I mean might as well go with my biggest influence at the moment right? Guy J would be amazing!
Funniest live performance anecdote?
I was playing a show in Detroit at Menjos a few years back and this drunk guy maybe in his 50’s or 60’s throughout the night would come up to me and not so sneakily put $1 bills in my hand to “turn the volume up.” Meanwhile the art and walls were literally shaking from how loud it already was.
Dream venue or festival to play at?
The Megastructure at Ultra. That’s where I fell in love with dance music and It’d feel very full circle to get a chance to play there.
Any hobbies?
Cooking, traveling, playing squash
