ANTICULTURE returns with ‘Underworld’

Defining themselves as a group for the “misfits and the misguided”, ANTICULTURE stormed their way onto the scene in 2019, and have been raising intrigue ever since. Hot on the tail of dropping their highly anticipated debut album ‘Teenage Disease’, featuring stand out single ‘Underworld’, they are ready to conquer, but not divide.

A faint, twinkling lullaby enters as ‘Underworld’ begins, with faded harmonies adding a beguiling depth that you can’t help but lean further into. Slow 808 hits ignite a bouncy rhythm before all four members of the outfit deliver their own hard-hitting verse. Each of their individual styles flowing effortlessly into one another, the track is riddled with mischief and rebellion and proves that ANTICULTURE knows exactly who they are and what they set out to do. Elaborating on their upcoming LP, they quote “The album Teenage Disease represents rebellious and tumultuous emotions that spawn from growing up. As a kid becomes older and faces real-world problems, responsibility and anxiety for the first time, it is only natural to have a rebellious phase. Teenage Disease captures the turmoil of growing pains with high-powered, punk-influenced rap music”.

Born and raised in Spokane, Washington and now based in Los Angeles, ANTICULTURE describes themselves as a creative community, where each member’s artistry is equally integral to their tracks. With their name deriving from the idea to shun trends and pop culture in favour for raw, honest self-expression, they have piqued the interest of similar mindsets worldwide, with a multitude of their tracks racking up over 45,000 streams respectively on Spotify. Hoping to inspire others to live their truth, ANTICULTURE are the perfect blend of hip-hop, punk and grime, and are a breath of fresh air in an industry where they refuse to play by the rules.
