Joey Gardiner drops new single Dirty Cigarette

South West’s Joey Gardiner has been refining and tailoring his solo music over the past two years. After playing in a string of bands, he fancied a change and dropped singles ME and Pain, both of which have been championed by heavyweight actor Paul Cooper, and he is now gearing up to release his new single Dirty Cigarette, the first installment of a well anticipated E.P.

Dirty Cigarette has a classic indie-rock backbone that can be found in so many of Joey’s influences, but as ever it is layered with his uniquely distinctive voice that has molded and changed his clear influences into something that is his own. Once again, the lyrical accompaniment provides a unique skeleton for the song that his fanbase will be more than likely to dig into.

Speaking to us, Joey said: “I think the main thing about Dirty Cig in my mind is the riff. It was one of those times when it came to me out of nowhere and I thought it sounded good. The song is a metaphor for the cigarette being your ex-partner. Even though when you consume tobacco you feel good and get a rush you know it’s bad for you – but that’s the rush you crave.

With a stream of gigs and songs in the pipeline, It’s hard not to be excited about this artist’s future.
