Sweet Magnolia blends the genres of New Orleans brass with the earworms of pop music.
Their songs are a rare combination of female storytelling in the brass medium – unapologetically sassy, infectiously fun, and bold.
This is demonstrated in ‘Out of My Mind’, which begins a vibrant saxophone arrangement and then Sweet Magnolia unveil soulful vocals.
Lead singer Meg Dwyer explains how “Some time ago, I was blindsided by a breakup. In the months that followed, to my great frustration, I’d still reminisce on memories of them. I’d still check their horoscope when I checked mine. In fact, it seemed that no matter what I did, as the song goes, I still couldn’t get that f***ing [redacted astrological sign] out of my mind!”
Sweet Magnolia are set to release debut full-length album ‘Miss Missed Connection’ in June 2024.
