Neil Young loses home in California wildfires

Neil Young has his home in the wildfires ravaging areas of California.

The singer has criticized the Trump administration for not tackling climate change.

The rock legend addressed the loss of his home in the Californian wildfires and lambasted president Donald Trump’s response to the crisis in a statement posted to his website.

Young wrote on the Neil Young Archives: “Firefighters have never seen anything like this in their lives, I have heard that said countless times in the past two days, and I have lost my home before to a California fire, now another.”

“California is vulnerable—not because of poor forest management as DT (our so-called president) would have us think, we are vulnerable because of Climate Change; the extreme weather events and our extended drought is part of it.”

Young concluded his statement: “Imagine a leader who defies science, saying these solutions shouldn’t be part of his decision-making on our behalf. Imagine a leader who cares more for his own, convenient opinion than he does for the people he leads.”

Young’s comments come in response to a tweet made by President Trump where he cited “poor forest management” as the cause of destruction.

6,700 structures have been destroyed and 250,000 people have been evacuated in the wildfires currently devastating Northern and Southern California.

At least 31 people have been killed, and 200 remain missing in the ongoing crisis.
