The very best of the Space Jam soundtrack

This week we heard news that the Space Jam soundtrack was being repressed on vinyl this coming Record Store Day, 22nd April, and we were thrilled. The soundtrack has been championed over the years for its superb selection of tracks from a plethora of insane artists. With the reissue on the horizon, the popularity is surging again. In such an event, we owe it to you to gather our hand-picked favourites from the esteemed movie soundtrack to get you prepped for the rerelease.

R Kelly – I Believe I Can Fly

Right from the off, Space Jam gets right up in your face with one of the soundtracks gems. The smooth R&B masterpiece accompanies a young Michael Jordan as he shoots hoops and indulges his father in his sporting aspirations to become a basketball star. For many fans of the movie, this is one of the most iconic tracks, so stick it on and cue the nostalgia.

Quad City DJs – Space Jam

Following the first scene, the intro credits start rolling with a montage of Michael Jordan‘s illustrious basketball career. The aptly named ‘Space Jam‘ compliments the aesthetic of the intro and it’s one hell of a track. The electro-tinged hip-hop stomper wouldn’t be out of place as a dance floor filler and it’s still as popular as ever.

B-Real, Coolio, Method Man, LL Cool J And Busta Rhymes – Hit Em High (The Monstars’ Anthem)

Every villain needs a good theme song and the Space Jam Monstars get a hip-hop anthem from an incredible star studded line-up. ‘Hit Em High‘ showcases a great selection of 90s rapping talent and it’s highly regarded in the hip-hop fan-base. Give it a spin, it’s a real head roller.

Seal – Fly Like An Eagle

The whole soundtrack is an absolute marvel in R&B and hip-hop and here we see Seal delivering another piece of magic. The album opener is a solid groover and sets the bar extremely high for the remaining soundtrack. Again, this track compliments Michael Jordan sinking some baskets and cements this soundtrack as one seriously good compilation of music.
